It may sound a bit harsh, but successful people never worry about what others are doing. They are too focused on achieving their goals and dreams. They’re too busy working on their own stuff, they don’t have time to get upset about what other people are doing.
I am particularly fond of the saying, “change is inevitable, growth is optional.” It accurately depicts life, and especially business. The reality is we all live in a constant state of evolution. Situations change, things happen, we are in a constant state of learning, growing, and advancing towards our dreams. (hopefully) Everyone we meet is either for a reason, a season, a minute, or a lifetime.
We are all on our own journey and although our paths may intertwine, at times, they all lead to different destinations. It doesn’t make it right, or wrong, it just is. Along the way we encounter many different experiences, people, challenges, lessons, etc. that can sometimes alter our course. Sometime’s it’s financial, sometimes it’s business, and other times it’s personal. It’s all part of the ebb and flow of the business.
So the next time a big leader makes a big announcement they’re leaving, don’t sweat it! Wish them well, smile, thank them for the lessons learned, wave as they exit stage right, and then get back to work. There is no need to attack, dramatize, or exchange in unprofessional banter all over social media. In most cases it doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with the company. Nor does it mean there is anything wrong with the leader. It simply means their vision for themselves is different then yours – and that’s ok.
It also means it’s time to refocus on your dream, get back to work, so they are making big announcements about you one day soon.😉
